I am thinking about starting up a catering/burger van and im wondering people think would be good locations i.e places you have been and thought that it could so with some where serving food.

I know the obvious places like motorways but im after more suggestions.

Also if anyone has owned a burger van, is there much competition/rivalry over certain spots e.t.c

Thanks

  1. Great locations,  near bus stations, near parks, near office buildings and industrial parks, any place a large amount of people work and can easily access your van....

  2. i think you need to do quite a bit of reserch, the council doesnt like them much, it needs to be licenced by them. give them a call for more info.

a good place is around factories, car sales ect.

car boot would do well bacon butties and teas ect.

  3. By the Post Office.

  4. A scrap yard, how people can eat such garbage I will never understand.  No I'm not rich and can't go to hotels for dinner, but I have respect for my body and health

  5. outside were i work lol

  6. Trading estates. I work as a field engineer. So I am out on the the road. But I work a local area. All the trading estates I visit have burger vans. I use them all the time. Out of about 8 I know only 2 I visit. The reason being the quality of food & the price. The two vans I visit always have ques. I think the you need to provide a varity of food from salad baps to breakfast rolls. Also the price. I get two sausage sandwiches & a tea for £3.20p & the sausages are good not the real cheap ones. Anywhere else & its £5.00. because of this I visit the same van again & again. If you get it right you will having people comming back everyday. People like me get to know the best vans. But if your in a trading estate you need to serve the office staff, hence salad baps & toated sandwiches are popular.

Also in the trading estates I visit there are areas where you could set up another van without stepping on peoples toes. But I imagine if you were to close it would cause trouble.

  7. I've seen them in many places, such as gas stations, near schools, near factorys or big production plants or military installations, office buildings. I think an area where people have to travel from their job site to go and get something to eat is a good place to start.

  8. anywhere kids play near parks

  9. outside my house so cant taste wifes cooking

  10. Industrial estates are a good idea, if you can find one that isn't already served by a burger van or something similar.

Also, lay-byes just off motorway slip-roads.

Basically, anywhere there's a high concentration of factory workers or truck drivers or taxi drivers.

  11. personally i think there should be a burger van outside every nightclub, dont usually eat burgers but once ive a few drinks i get so hungry as do most, then you have to find a takeaway thats packed out with drunks fighting

dont know if it would be allowed or if youd even want to that though

  12. in the city centre maybe. somewhere where loads of people pass by and can easily notice your burger stand. don't have it in a park because you're hardly gonna make money like that.

  13. outside nightclubs , near the beach ....
