  1. Since Batman is a fictitious character -- his martial arts are, by default, FICTITIOUS.

Whatever kind it is, I'm amazed at the speed (what with all the weight he carries around wearing all that body armor, gloves, utility belt and what not.)

  2. There's no harm in just knowing, he isn't basing his opinion on it, Batman, in the Dark Knight uses Keysi fighting method, which is very similar to Jeet Kune Do, it's built for thinking and strategic attacks with the brutality of Krav Maga, it may shock people but it's actually one of the better martial arts to take, like Jeet Kune Do, if you want, you should give it a try but it's difficult to find a school outside of the United Kingdom.

  3. Bat-kido.

No, just kidding, my guess would be ninjitsu

  4. Watch the Batman Begins.

  5. Better have serious armor if you’re going to fight like the members of Lazarus’ League of Shadows! But Batman does so I guess that’s okay.

Most working martial arts don’t look good when applied because the techniques are manipulated so that you don’t’ perceive them. Movie fights are drawn out and moves elongated so you can see the action.

  6. do not use movies to judge martial arts. real martial arts are nothing like you see in the movies.

  7. In the comics he has mastered evrey known art. SO if you are trying to take the martial artrs that he took than you have to learn them all. You have to remeber that Batman could afford and did ( fictitiously) dedicate every wakling moment to perfecting his crime stopping methods, especially the martial arts. A real life example of such dedication is Sosai Masutatsu Oyama.

  8. Depends what continuum you follow, but generally comic book artists say "every martial art."

In the movies, obviously, he was trained in Ninjutsu and Jiu Jitsu, and it makes sense because Batman is basically a ninja in a bat costume with detective skills, in the cartoon, strictly Jiu Jitsu and Karate.

"Officially" though, Batman is a polymath, mentally not operating on the same wavelength as the rest of us.  In some Batman origin stories, they say he was a martial arts prodigy, who mastered all known forms of unarmed combat, with only 1 year of training each.  Not became "very good at" or "reached 10th dan levels" at; mastered.

The character Batman, is a master of unarmed combat period.  Indeed on many ocassions in the comic, he has brought down professional boxers.  In a DC/Marvel cross over, because of votes from comic book fans according to what I read in the library at the University of Idaho, Batman smacked the c**p out of both Wolverine, and Captain America, using only his superior martial arts skills.

Wolverine has that healing thing, and Captain America is physically enhanced, and yet Batman still kicked both their asses.

As to what type, most comic book writters will be lazy and simply say "every single one" or "all the major ones" so I would imagine Muay Thai, Karate, Boxing, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, you name it odds are he knows it, and better than the top ranked champion, that's generally how they explain it.  Do not forget that some of the criminals Batman fights have superhuman strength; he has tangled, toe to toe, against crooks that could have maimed or crippled the crime fighter they were fighting against, and it took Bane's massive strength to finally break his back.

What I am trying to say is, Batman's martial arts skills were only eventually stopped by a steroid monster whose strength nearly equals that of Superman.  Bane was introduced, to silence once and for all, Marvel fanboys who were saying "Batman couldn't fight."

Oh trust me, the character can fight.  In "Batman vs Predator," the Predator bit off a little more than it could chew when it attempted to get Batman's skull as a trophy.  For the first, and only time in his crime fighting career, Batman took a life when to save I believe Huntress, he had to kill the Predator, and he did so I believe by breaking its neck using a martial arts move.

    Ultimately though....

Who cares about the details, just enjoy the movies or comics, whichever float your boat.

    peace.

  9. He was trained in the beginning of the first movie by like... ninja guys. It didn't say specifically. Lol, after that, there is no evidence he has training. If you used the moves he used in the movie in real life, they wouldn't work.

  10. Anti Thesis is the only one that got it right, in Batman Begins Liam Neeson's character says something about learning either jujitsu or ninjitsu. Its a fight scene so I can't really tell. Being the Batman, and being dark and sometimes unseeable, I would say more ninjitsu than anything

  11. Batjitsu

  12. Officially in the comics, batman studied jujitsu (japanese, not bjj) and ninjitsu.

In the new movies, Christian Bale studied the Keysi Fighting Method, however, the script mentions Bruce Wayne's jujitsu and some kung fu in Batman Begins.
