  1. SAT Reasoning test math involves convoluted ways of asking the same question.

For example, if they want to know whether or not you know the pythagorean theorem, they won't say,

    What is a^2 + b^2?

    Instead, they'll say,

two cars start at the same point. One moves north at 40 mph, and the other car moves east at 25 mph. After 70 minutes, how far is the shortest distance between them?

And stuff like that. It tests if you can apply basic skills.

The SAT Math Subject tests ask straightforward questions. This is where you would be finding, What is a^2 + b^2? But you will never find a question that easy. It'll probably give you a long rational equation and ask you to find the limit as x approaches c.
