What type of military traning must one go through to become an ATP and could it be before the flight school?

  1. No military training.  The training could be at any time, but in the US the certification would have to be after Commercial Pilot certification.

  3. And there's no military training involved.

  4. You'd have to get all of your other ratings first: private, instrument, commercial, multi. Then train for your ATP. I think you may be able to do your ATP through the military since they do fly some passenger type aircraft for high ranked officials. Most get their ATP through the first airline they work for. The other part of your question would then be a no; you can't get your ATP before flight school since it's normally your last rating.

  5. Is this a joke?  No, it's not before flight school.  ATP is based on hours in type and experience...check-ride testing etc.
