What type of orders do navy personnel receive when a navy base closes?

do you receive hot fill orders or do you actually get to negotiate for new orders?

Hot fill always comes first... for example one of the guys that worked for me on my last ship had an NEC that NEVER usually goes to sea but we needed someone with a 0000 (general rating) for our shop - they closed Winter Harbor ME down and shortly after he arrived onboard CVN75.

But you can negotiate for what hotfills you get...nothing ventured nothing gained - don't wait for the last minute call your detailer - I'm sure he/she already knows about the closure - but call.

Both.  there will usually be a dedicated batch of Detailers who will work with everyone to get orders.
