I was discussing it with my wife and she wants to paint the whole inside of the house with semigloss paint. I read that flat paint is better for scrubbing off marks. What gives Semigloss or flat?

  1. Semi-gloss is the best! Flat is not the best when it comes to washing walls! You will wash away your investment if you buy any brand of FLAT paint. Good Luck!

  2. the higher the gloss, the better the scrub.  Flat is the worst.

  3. Do not use Semi Gloss on the wall, It will look terrible, it will show every roller mark and every imperfection in the wall.  Benjamin Moore Paints makes a new product call Aura Matte.  It looks like a flat but is super scrubbable.  I have used it in 2 rooms in my house adn will not go back to anything else.  Very easy to apply and covers almost in one coat any color!!!  You need to check it out!  It does have a price tag to it of $59.99 but it is worth it.  If your budget can't afford it, go with the Regal Matte!!!!!

  4. Semigloss is easier to keep clean.  Flat paint ABSORBS stuff and is more difficult to clean.

If you want a not so shiny surface, go with a satin finish rather than flat.  Satin is not as hard to clean as flat, but not as easy to clean as semigloss.

I like semi for kitchen and bath and satin for all other rooms, really.  Flat for the ceiling only in my house.

  5. flat is the worst for scrubbing there are 2 or 3 paints  between flat and semi gloss all very durable and you can scrub them and is not as shiny as semi gloss. i would recommend one of them

  6. they do make a scrub able flat now  it's manufactured with ceramic particles your semi gloss will work but it will also show off any slight imperfections in you walls instead compromise and go with a eggshell finish the both of you will be much happier
