  1. its true. automotive is the best way to pain on the exterior!

  2. I may be out dated,  But  aluminum resists being painted.  The paint will  try to run off as it is being applied.  It requires a zinc coating applied first.  Then any paint will do.

  3. exterior latex

  4. I agree with diy and jacko. You can pay as much as $300 for a quart of automotive paint. Just use an exterior paint, but make sure to use the right metal primer, if applicable.

  5. No offense to You, Lowes, or any others who answer, but I'll offer a suggestion.

I have lived in FL for 36 years, and in WA state, and in mobiles on occasion, as well as taken jobs painting mobiles.

In every case I know of or every mobile I have ever painted, Exterior Latex was used, AND was used effectively. Some of those jobs are over 5 years old, and still holding up as well as paint on any frame house.

Can you use Automotive paint? Certainly. If you choose to have a high gloss finish, pay outrageous prices per gallon, are able to apply the auto enamels in a manner consistent with a decent end result, go for it.

    Just my two "Sense"

  6. Doc is right, regular latex exterior paint will work just fine.  Have done it more than once, myself.

  7. auto paint is expensive ,you need hardener, reducer , and it has to be sprayed. a good brand of exterior house paint is all you need it can be brushed or rolled on. i did mine years ago with exterior latex still looks good.

  8. Diy doc has it correct ..I am a 37 year experienced painter and have never painted a mobile home with automotive paint! I have seen both Lowes and Home depot so called pros mess many a job up with thier so called professionals...Go to Sherwin Williams and get  A label of paint called A-100..it is compatable with concrete, vinyl, aluminaum, metal etc...I have used  A-100 for years and years... good paint good price..The top 4 products on this link are all aluminum compatable paints from Sherwin Williams... automotive paint  LOL..I have never heard anything like this before ....Call A real paint store...they have plenty paints that will stick to aluminum
