  1. 2H for the lot , just go light for the outlines . not using cad .

  2. outlines - 0.5 mm(H) or 0.3mm(2H)

    Dimension lines - 0.3mm(2H)

    construction lines - 0.7 (2B)

  3. The grades for the graphite (pencil lead) range from hard to soft. In general, hard pencils draw light lines; soft pencils draw darker and wider lines. The hardest standard grade for drafting/drawing pencils is 9H. The softest pencil is grade 6B. In general, a 4H pencil is used for light layout lines and guide lines that are easy to erase. A sharp H pencil is used for thin dark lines (dimension and extension lines, template work, and lettering). A blunted F pencil is used for thick/dark object lines for walls and borders. Hope this helps!

  4. It used to be that you had to use 0.3mm for dimension lines etc. and 0.7mm for the main drawing. Since then they changed the standards and you can use 0.5mm for dimensions as long as you use 0.9mm for the main drawing.

My tech drawing tutor used to hate the 0.9mm stuff. Imagine how huffed he must have been when computers rendered the whole lot irrelevant!
