What type of pet could I get?

Question

She won't let me get another dog cause our dog we have now doesn't get along wit other dogs. She also doesn't want to get another cat cause our cat doesn't get along with other cats. and please don't say fish. or rocks.

I suggest taking a look at the food chain before buying another pet.

Cats kill and eat most of the pets already mentioned: Rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds, mice, rats, etc.

Really depends on your cat though. I've had a bird with a cat and while the cat wanted nothing more than to eat the bird she understood it was a member of the family. My bird would even follow her around on the floor biting her tail and she just glared at it because she knew she could not do anything about it. If you've never had any other pets lower down on the food chain it can be hard to tell how a cat would react.

Because of this I'd suggest getting a pet that can defend itself in some way. A Cockatiel which is the bird I had would be very good. Why? Because they can fly away! If you get a hand reared one they are also very affectionate and fun pets to have. Can play with the, teach them to talk, walk around the house with them on your shoulder, etc. Just don't take it outside if you don't have it's winged clipped.

A rabbit or guinea pig would probably be the worst option because they have to be left outside alone, in a cage, with nowhere to run when the cat and dog decide to flip the cage over and kill/eat them. This isn't the sort of scene you want to come home to after school.

I love bunnies, so I'm gonna have to say try a bunny, or a guinea pig! Both are sweet and can become very bonded to you!
