What type of piping should i use for my spud gun

pvc or abs. i heared abs is better and more expensive and pvc shaters and costs less. i am going to wrap duct tape around it 2 times to stop it from breaking and to keep it out of the sun.im. im going with a 4" inch chamber 12inch long chamber and a 2 1/2 inche barrel that 6 feet long.(i want to shoot coke cans) and if you got any other type of size i should use then tell me

PVC pipe for its regidity.

Wrapping with Duct Tape is good.

The critical characteristics are: Seal where the tubing connects to the pipe and seal around the projectile.

Also, weigh each projectile for consistancy response results. If need be bore out to lighten up the spud. Lubricate the barrel with soap & water.

For coke cans, wrap tape around it to create a good seal, but not hard to dent the can.

So long as your PVC isn't schedule 125 or something thinner you should be OK with PVC.  Use schedule 40 PVC.  Double wrapping it with Duck tape will add strength but I doubt it will be necessary -- but do it anyway.
