Would love to know what the plant with the purple flowers is. Photo was taken in Cork, Ireland. Any ideas? Thanks.

  3. Sorry Woodie, Nelly Moser is pink with white striping......and Jackmanii is with more than 4 petals.

    All clematis are beautiful tho!  any one would be a great choice - including the doubles.......just takes a few years to get to be that big.

    Never heard it called a crown of thorns. I have one and it is very thorny and has little red flowers.

  10. This is a Clematis vine. They come in a variety of colors, in a good setting they will probably bloom between 3 and 4 weeks in the summer time like like sun but they also like there roots to be cooler. This is a wonderful plant and a staple plant for any flower garden.
