I agree with Bingalee... looks like a dieffenbachia.  I'm including a link to a yahoo! image.

They're pretty easy to grow and fairly forgiving if you water once a week and keep in a light room.

It's called "dumb cane"...heres many pictures on it..

Heres some weird history on this plant..in the south they also used it in slavery days..

It is poison so careful when trimming it wash hands afterwards..

Hurray it's dumb cane~ Dieffenbachia its a nice easy to grow house plant that people over water. Well most house plants people over water... It's  poisonous so don't eat it.. lol

I have one of these, love it. Mine has been knocked over so many times by the kids, that now it kind of looks like a vine, everyone that sees it says, " I have never seen one look like that before, but it is really cool looking and easy to grow!
