What type of plant to get for dorm room?

I do not like cacti, and i'd like something small, relatively low maintenance, and plain lovely. Any suggestions?

How about a venus fly trap?  They are small and a good conversation piece.  Plus they eat flies

The Spider plant is easy to grow and is interesting to look at. They don't take up much space and can have babies that you could give to your friends!

For plain lovely and relatively low maintenance get a cheap orchid from a Wal-mart or Home Depot.  For less than 10 bucks you'll have a beautiful plant with glossy green leaves that will flower several times a year.  They're pretty easy to take care of - just decent light exposure (any window but north facing is fine) and water once a week.  They don't live in dirt - just bits of bark - so it's more hygenic too.
