Question:

What type of potting soil can I use for an anole?

I read that I can use potting soil in my anole's cage, but I'm not sure what kind. I got some organic, natural stuff, but it says it has horticultural perilite in it. Is that OK? If not, do you know of a brand that doesn't contain that, and where I can get it? Oh, and it also says it contains organic fertilizers, I don't really know what that is... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  1. I would not recommend the organic soil. The best thing to do is get some gravel and layer about an inch thick then go down to your local nursery or home depot and pick up some moss most likely sphagnum moss or peat moss.  You could aslo mix the moss with some coconut husk from the pet store and that should be a good mix as they need substrate that holds moisture.

  2. why dont you try vermiculite?
