  1. It depends on your style of play. If your strokes are hard and flat you want a smaller headsize (90-95 sq. in.) a denser string pattern (18x20) and greater mass (>11oz).

If you are predominately a spin player you want a slightly larger head (95-100 sq. in.) a more open string pattern (16x19) and obviously a lighter frame.

I myself am a hybrid of the two. I play a heavy flat service and a kick second. Equally I play flat ground strokes but require spin often. So my combination is a 90 sq. in., 16x19, 12.5oz Wilson. The heavy mass and small head allow me to accelerate through flats when I need to but the open string pattern gives me excellent spin control when I need it.

If your NTRP is <5.0 you might find a 90sq in head hard to hit with. Moving up to a 95 or 100 with the same set up would solve that issue in most cases.

  2. The Wilson KSix-One Tour 90 is an ideal racquet for a serve and volley player. It's Strung weight is about 12.5 ounces, it's swingweight is 336 (RDC), it's balance is 9pts head light and only cost around $199.00. (String pattern 16 Mains / 19 Crosses, Head size 581 square centimeters, Weight 354 grams) This racquet is great because it has alot of weight behind it and that is the key to good serving and volleying.
