What type of relative would I be to this child?

My cousin is having a baby, she's in her 20's and I was just curious does this make me the baby's cousin, or what? It's just kind of confusing.

cousin. The number (ie 1st, 2nd) depends on what number your cousin is to u.

If it was your first cousin and she had a baby you would be a second cousin once removed

Second cousin, once removed.  Second cousins are in genetical line up.  You and your cousin are FIRST cousins and both of your children would be SECOND cousins.  You add in a once removed for each generation.

Your cousin's baby is your 2nd cousin. Now if you had a baby your baby would be your cousin's baby 2nd cousin once removed.  I believe that is how it goes.

Okay I was wrong so here is what  I found.

Children of siblings are FIRST COUSINS to each other.



Children of FIRST COUSINS are SECOND COUSINS to each other.



Children of SECOND COUSINS are THIRD COUSINS to each other.



So much for the easy part. Now for the ONCE REMOVED, etc. part:

Starting with YOU, children of your FIRST COUSINS are your FIRST COUSINS, ONCE REMOVED.



Children of your FIRST COUSIN'S children, are your FIRST COUSINS, TWICE REMOVED.
