  1. There's fairly inexpensive, entry level, road bikes out there if you look. Here's a nice one.

    2008 Jamis Ventura Sport

aluminum compact frame / aluminum fork

    50/34 compact FSA crank

    Shimano 2200 gearing and shifters

    $550

Check the link and you'll see that it's a very nice looking bike. In fact I think it looks far more expensive than it actually is. So if you absolutely can't spend more than $600 this may be the bike for you!

  2. I'd suggest you spend at least $750 because that's the price entry level road bikes cost these days. Anything less and you are probably looking at a hybrid or a used bike.

If you want to hang with the bunch on a group ride, that's what you are going to need. Take a look at the Jamis, KHS, Trek, Scott and Specailized. If you are lucky you can get one on sale in the $700 price range.

If you can't afford the extra dough, go to performancebike.com and check out the Schwinns, or bikesdirect.com.

    Good luck.

Keep it in the big ring.

  3. try craigslist.  look for a bike that is less than 5 years old in your size and has shimano 105 components or better (ultegra).  you should be able to get one with reasonably low miles for $500 or less.  you will probably have to spend another $100 to $150 to make it "yours" after you buy it for things like new tires, saddle, bottle cage, pedals, etc.  a bike with 105 components is well over $1000 new.

  4. Hi i think budget in 500-600 you have a good bike you can see bicycle in myblog astore it have many brand popular and spect , price , information , cheap , lowprice , How to choose new bicycle from amazon.com .Thank you good luck.

  5. I agree with the others that you should look at Jamis, Schwinn, GT, and Trek at least in your price range.  Look at www.rbikes.com just to see the range.

However, also go to your local bike shop for two reasons.  One, they may have a better bike from a year or two ago that is discounted, or they may have a great used bike.  More importantly is that you need to get the right fit.  A friend of mine had a Trek Madone (an excellent bike, even if I'm not a Trek fan), but it was not quite the right size for him.  Wrong size = bad bike, no matter what the quality of the bike.

  6. "Which is a better bike, a Trek or a Specialized?

Or Cannondale or Orbea or Scott or Schwinn or Cervelo. We're asked "Which brand is better?" almost daily. While each brand has its diehard fans, we can't answer the question. It's not because of any political reason, but because it's not the right question to ask--you're buying a bicycle, not a brand. .."
