What type of rock is sandstone? Meph, Igneious or Sedimentry?

  1. sandstone is the second most common sedimentary rock, shale is the most common. sandstone consists of grains of sand, mostly quartz, which have been compacted and cemented together. its colour varies according to the minerals it contains and the cementing minerals.

       There are 2 primary forces that do this sorting by size of material... wind, and water.

       Wind sorts sand grains and forms 'dunes... water sorts sand grains and forms 'beaches..  both forces sort other dementions of debrees and we see those results in other forms, like gravel bars, or { i cant remember what the tecnical name of a sea beds equivilent is... #*^^$#!!..}....
