how thick is the steel? that is going to make a big difference. a hack saw would work but you might be there awhile. on the other hand if you know some firemen ask them to borrow the K-12, that would cut it quick.

Bi-Metal sawzall blades. Or use a gas cutting torch.

You can get an angle grinder pretty cheap and the discs are cheaper than blades and they last twice as long.. After you have one you wish you would have had one  years ago....

Buy,Borrow or use your sawzall. Purchase a milwaukee sawzall blade called "Torch". This is a really tough bi-metal sawzall blade made to cut metal. Just to be safe buy 2 of them.

Now hold sawzall with the foot tight against the pc. you are cutting. Let the blade do the cutting for you, Minimum pressure on the sawZall work it back and forth - keep sawzall foot against the pc. you are cutting.

It will drop off like a rock.
