  1. It depends.  I am currently a sub in a child care center that is concerned to be one of the best.  I only have my diploma but am in school for Early Childhood Education.  I have no degree now, which is why I am a sub.  I will be completing my Associates Degree within the next year.  At that time I will be considered a teacher.  Now I work with children from 18 months to 5 years.  Most places will take at least a diploma, but want a degree.   Where I work they actually want us all to go back to school, including the director to get a higher degree.  Like I said it depends.

  2. It all depends on the preschool facility. If it is a government funded preschool like head start or more at 4, you definately need a four year degree and teacher licensure to teach or a 2 year degree to be a TA. If it is a private funded preschool (depending on the state), you can usually teach with out a four year degree (and sometimes w/o a 2 year degree for that matter) but you usually have to complete some ECE credits though. I would definately recommend on a Bachelor's degree in ECE though. It will best prepare you to be an effective preschool teacher. I have 6 more classes until I complete my BS in ECE. Good luck!!

  3. In some states you just have to have graduated high school, but eventually you will have to have a degree.  To teach in the public school system you need to have a degree in a early childhood related field

  4. Here are the type of classes you would need to work as a Pre-school teacher. What college you go to the class names would be different.

    Developmental Psychology

    Infant and toddler caregiver:Relations

infant and toddler caregiver:Socialization and Emotional Development

    Introduction to child development

    Early childhood education

    Cummunication in child development

    The Preschool child

    Health and safety with children

    CPR  ( a must)

    Home-child-Community Relations

    Child abuse education

6 units would be a Teachers Aid

12 units would be a Qualified Teacher.

    I hope this will help.

I have a Degree in Social And Behavorial Science and it is in 4 areas. Marriage and family (children),Social Worker Aid,Counseling,Teaching. Was a Director Up North and now a Preschool Teacher in Southern CA.

If you go into Social and Behavorial Science it would be in more areas and it would give you a better chance of getting a good job.  Good Luck.

  5. It really depends on the place.  Some places only require 6 units of Early Child Education to be an assistant

  6. It all depends on the state that you live in. CA requires teachers to have 12 units of ece (early childhood education). For other states I would check their department of education website.

  7. It depends on the type of preschool.  If it is a public school based program, they are required to have a BSE in Early Childhood Education.  If it is a daycare type preschool.....I don't think this is a requirement.....

  8. I would say at least a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Development. You might be able to be an aide without a college education. I would check with the State Board of Education for the state you reside in or would like to teach in. Good Luck!

  9. A teaching degree or Have any Bachelor's degree and go through and Alternative Certification Program...
