  1. A couple of years of trade-school, or community college -- where courses required for state phlebotomy are given.

    You don't need a 4-year degree, and if you 'push' it you might get it all done in a year.

  2. It takes two years at a community college to become a registered medical laboratory technician.  

    It takes four years of college to become a registered medical technlogist.

    It takes a two week course of study or on-the-job training to become a phlebotomist.  

    To become a registered phlebotomist, you have to have some some experience and pass a registry exam.
