  1. chemical and/or electrochemical engineering.

make/find clean fuels or, the holy grail of electrical engineering, a better battery.

  2. Mechanical and electrical engineering would probably be the way to go.  The future of transportation is plug-in hybrids and electric cars, so you'll be in good shape studying those subjects.

  3. Well if you are that green, just study some more junk science, it will tell you just what you want to hear.

It won't help you when you need to earn a living, but hey you will feel good starving, right?  Ain't that what it's all about?  Feeling good?

  4. That would be mechanical engineering.  Aeronautical engineering is a branch of it, though it's often offered as a separate major.  You'll take a couple of years of math, chemistry and physics before you begin courses on thermodynamics, mechanics, materials science and maybe control theory.  Then you'll get more specialized courses in things like vibration analysis, mechanical linkages,   They'll also want you to take some engineering computation courses.

It's all fascinating.  Have fun.  I envy you at this stage.
