I'm planning a 4 man expedition walking from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean over the Pyrenees, what type of shelter(s) should I be taking?

  1. You can either decide to stop at numerous houses and inns on the way - there's lots of hikers so there's lots of shelters - or take a tent. If you decide to cross the Pyrenees instead of walking along the lower slopes, take a sturdy tent for high mountains, cold nights and downpours (summer storms can be fierce) that can change to snow if you are high enough. Especially as we were promised a wet summer this year. If you decide to walk on the lower slopes you still need something that can protect you from summer storms but the nights will be way warmer. I recommend bright colours, to be seen easily if you ever need help.

  2. My recommendation would be the Big Agnes "Copper Spur URL 3". See link below. We have been using one in the US for both long and short trips for the past several months and really like it. Excellent design, very light weight and easy to set up and strike.Certainly worth a look.
