  1. i did cross country in regular sneakers and they lasted me the whole season

  2. you can but most everybody will have spikes. make sure you get the cc ones tho and not the track ones. there's a BIG difference. use the training nikes for practice and then use the spikes during races. the spikes actually will give you a better time because they're lighter and they help with running up hills. (which are a real pain!) trust me ik. good luck in your season

  3. Here are your three categories:

    Budget: Expensive or cheap

    Weight: Lightweight or NOT lightweight

    Type: Spikes or flats

Depending on how you feel about your shoes, the design will change. Your budget is the first thing you look at. Expensive shoes like shoes from Nike are specially made for running. So that's a positive thing, but if they are not necessarily in your budget and you overspend that's a negative. Cheap tennis shoes are not normally made specifically for running like the more expensive kind so that's also a negative, but they cost less which is definitely a positive.

You can also get a pair of sneakers that are either lightweight or not lightweight. Lightweight shoes are great because they are the kind of shoes that are made for what you're talking about, therefore I'd go with them. They are lighter and allow you to run faster, whereas normal tennis shoes force you to go slower.

Then you can choose if you want to have spikes or flats. Spike are good to have when you are running through grass because it grips the ground better, which is great if it's wet outside. That's positive, but if you are going through gravel it is not good because gravel could get stuck in between the spikes. That's when you can get flats. Flats are good to wear when you are running on a path which is positive. I'm just showing you everything.

Choose whatever pair of shoes you want. Some people even get two pairs of shoes so they can wear them for different occasions. Hope I helped. And if it were me I would get an expensive, lightweight, spiked pair of shoes. Your shoes will meet top qualifications if you choose well.

  4. Wear your trainers for cross country

  5. I am a cross country runner and you should use trainers for practice and you should buy spikes for races. BUT!!! You should buy spikes that are removable so you put in spikes for cross country and track & field but take them out for road races.

  6. Running shoes, perhaps?

  7. i run cross country and i've always trained in and ran meets in Asics.

the shoes are padded and comfortable for support.

google them and check them out!

  8. I did my cross-country since 1988, I used spikes, during that time, the road was not so pretty nice as now, muddy and a lot of gravel. Now, the roads in Singapore are fully developed, you just wear back your training Nike's, you feel more comfortable and easy to run. No need to buy a new pair of shoe, spikes or flats.

I always emphasize OLD SHOES are the best to do the races or competitive run...to my group of runners.

  9. I recommend you pick up a pair of cross-country shoes for races - the right shoe can make a real difference in your times.

    Hope this helps!
