Tonight, my friend and I were on her roof looking at the star, and we saw this dot in the sky- it looked like a star, but smaller than the rest of them that were in the sky- and was moving. It moved slower than the planes in the sky, and were not blinking.

So what was this?

  1. possibly a comet

  2. Kera (and others here) you can see satellites on any clear night.  The reason you and many others are surprised and don't know what you are looking at is that you have not been educated about basic space, and you never normally look at the heavens.

Both of these make me very sad, because this is the SPACE AGE, girl.  Get with it.

Also, the person who said comet is also totally ignorant of space.

  3. It was not a shooting star (otherwise known as a meteorite) - it was a satellite in orbit around the Earth.  There are hundreds of them.

  4. that sounds like a satellite to me, and I have seen a good number of them while out stargazing.

  5. It could be a light on a blimp lol...or another fallen angel kicked out of Heaven :)

  6. satellite
