  1. You have to be able to deal with difficult people sometimes, you have to lay your sympathy feelings aside because sometimes that line of work can be very painful.  You also have to go to college and get a degree to practice social work.

  2. U need personable skills, and the ability to be fair regardless to y a person is in need of help or assistance. Most of all u need critical thinking skills. u have 2 b able to look at situations in depth and think of the best possible solutions. These r just personal things that one can focus on aside from the book work of going to college for 4-5 yrs.

  3. Social work is a VERY broad career. You can do anything from working with children and families, to people with mental and psychological disorders, to working with the elderly. You need to have a passion to help people. Also, do not get into this profession if you cant deal with difficult or sad situations. It is an amazing career feild with many different opportunities of work, good luck to you if you are persuing it. Depending where you are in the states I beleive you need 4-5 years college degree. In Canada, you cab obtain a Social Services Diploma in 2 years, a Bachelor of Social Work in 4 years, and a Masters in 5 years.

    Good luck and take care,
