What type of soil do you recommend for growing tree roses?

I am growing them, but the bottom of the rosebud isn't staying green that long. I would like the stem/leaves of the rosebud to stay green for a long period of time. What kind of soil do you know I should use? and what is the brand name? I'm from Southern California, so any store would be fine, like home depot, lowes, etc.

Thank you

  1. Home Depot has garden soil for flowers and vegetables made by Miracle Gro. It costs about $5 for a 1 cubic foot bag. The great thing about this soil is that it absorbs water and keeps roses from drying out (you need to water roses a lot in the summer months). Plus, Miracle Gro soil releases nutrients when watering. My wife's roses are always blooming great; she also adds Miracle Gro's Rose formula (it comes in pellets that you mix with water) each month to the soil.
