What type of solvent is used to put on golf grips?

  1. grip solvent available at golfsmith and stores alike i also use lighter fluid works great evoporates quikly


  2. Soapy Water. The grips are a friction fit, and are usually applied by using soapy water to seat them in place, then allowed to dry.

  3. You can either use white spirit (or turpentine substitute), or use water, depending on the type of grip tape you use.

    If you are using ordinary double-sided tape then go with white spirit. There is no need to pay extra for so-called 'golf-grip tape'.
