"Mutillidae, or velvet ants, are a family of wasps whose wingless females resemble ants, though only distantly related. The "velvet ant" name refers to their hair, which may be red, black, white, silvery or golden. In some places a few species are also known as cow killers or cow ants."

  10. Oh god, you have to be more specific, spiders are arachnids which means they have 8 legs, ants have 6 legs, there is no mistake in that, because ants are insects. There are thousands of possibilites and no Black widow spiders aren't one of them because they aren't native to georgie because unless you saw it at a pet store or zoo or something they're deffinatly not walking around in Georgia. Most likely is was an unvenomous spider with red markings which are very tipical and common spider colors. To be more specific you'd have to have a picture and the exact location of the spider, was it in a forest, by your house, in some kind of nature reserve, etc. Spiders unlike other animals are probably the hardest animals to indetify because of their extreme diversity and great numbers.

Most spiders that are native to georgia are most likely small, unvenomous, or very impotent if venomous and could range to thousands of possible species. If you have a picture please show it to me and i can Idetify it better. or just go to a zoo, or veteranarian, he should know the native spiders and probably be able to identify it quickly if its very common and in large abundance.
