What type of spider was this?

Question

I drive a truck for a living and recently I went in to sweep out my trailer after it was unloaded. I soon however discovered there was a black spider hanging from the ceiling. It's leg span was approximately 2 inches long and appeared to have yellow spots on it's back.

probably garden spider they are big and they are bright colored some can be green etc. they are harmless but i am not sure where you are either .

The yellow marking on this garden spider can vary from spider to spider.  Also note the zig zag pattern in the web.  It is sometimes called a writing spider or golden garden spider.

Eh it could just be a regular spider... ive heard those can be a variation of colors...

just make sure that if you have a spider with a red spot on its back get the **** away from it! lol those are bad!
