  1. you can never go wrong with an Almerrick

  2. Malina your answer is BS why in the world would you tell a new surfer to go cary an acient wooden 100lb board out and try and surf it....good luck even finding a wooden board. Plus all boards these day that hawiians and everyone else are surfing is foam and a few epoxy's and other new board technologys.... no one uses wooden boards!!!! Its easiest for a begginer to start on a longboard but if your the shortboarding kind of guy the 7'6 fish would be great for you make sure its a nice thick and wide board though so it will be easier to learn to stand up and catch waves on. By the way Malina your what us surfers call a POSER try googling it to learn what it means.....lol i can't believe you told him to buy a wooden board

  3. For you I think a good 6'10 fun board shaped like a short board would be an awesome board.  You wouldn't need those good sets to catch a wave while when you do catch it, you can still carve and tear it up.  I am 5'10 150, and I started on a 6'8 fun board, man those were some good times on that board.

  4. Im a native hawaiian and i know a lot about surfing. Longboards are better for small waves and shortboards are better for big waves. Depends on what kind of waves you surf, like how big are they? If you can guess that. Take your own pick, short or long board? But i would suggest a nice 6/8 board.

hawaiians use a wooden board for better surfing too and they weight about 100 pounds. you should ask for squash/square boards. best. so try wooden one, not one of those foam ones.

this webiste will help you out too

    browse around a lil too

  5. Go for it thats a really good choice

  6. the guy above me is right....focus more on shape than length, you want something big and wide with a lot of thickness....and don't discount looking into a foam board to learn on, they're cheap and they're pretty fun, plus you're not going to get slashed by your fins when you get pitched.....other than that, good luck, be respectful
