Question:

What type of tack generally comes with a lease (when they say 'tack included')?

I'm considering a few horses for lease right now, I've yet to go up and look (we're going this weekend), but they have them advertised as "Tack Included"

Let me explain the situation briefly:

A summer riding camp leases its horses fall-spring to good homes, so I am taking the horse back home with me.

What tack could I expect to get? Saddle and bridle obviously, but what about a halter, saddle pad, and wraps?

(I will ask them when I go up, but I just wanted a general idea).

  1. Typically everything that belongs to 'that' horse. I half lease my horse with anything and everything he has. But I would except a saddle, pad, bridle and halter at minimum.

  2. Considering that you are taking the horse home I would think that you would get all tack required to look after that horse as they would have to assume that you wouldn't have anything of your own.  When you do get your "tack pack"  get them to make a list of everything they give you so they cannot dispute that you haven't returned everything and try to charge you for it,  of course if you break anything you will probably have to replace it.  Have lots of fun with your horsey.

  3. Well you will get a bridle and saddle and saddle pad and most likely a halter and lead rope. You might get some boots for the horse and possibly a blanket if you live somewhere where the weather gets cold in the winter. You probably wont get brushes and hoof picks and stuff but you might.

  4. Normally when it's "tack included" it's all that horses tack. Halter, leadrope, saddle, saddle pad, bridle, sometimes they come with a turnout blanket, and a lungeline.

  5. That usually means that you get a saddle (western or english), halter, lead rope, Saddle Pad, Bridle, and maybe a few brushes.

I wouldn't think wraps would be included.

  6. saddle briddle halter lead possibly lunge rope

  7. I wouldn't be surprised to get a halter, bridle, and saddle w/pad.  IF you get wraps, brushes, hoof pic, etc., you'll be very lucky.  I have heard of others getting camp horses, and they didn't get anything but a string halter!  So, if they say, 'tack included', you might be getting a good deal!

  8. most likely it will be just the halter, saddle and bridle. they probably won't include schooling pads and wraps... but that's just what i've had experiences with.
