  1. you'll need food and a torch or two, and check if bedding is supplied or not, also canal map

    have a nice holiday

  2. ipod

  3. narrow people

  4. definetly mobile phone and charger reading material i have been on about 4 boating holidays in 18 months they tend to supply things you phone charger needs to be an in car charger everything is 12v on the boat you will be suprised what you can get these days good luck hope you enjoy.

you need to ask them for life jackets if your worried and a lot will only supply you there equipment at a cost. i.e tv

  5. they vary, and the hire base will have a list of whats supplied for you.

With some, all you need is clothes,  food and drink - boats will not move without an alchoholic drink in the helmsmans hand.

say hello as you cruise past ( our house has about 3/4 mile of canal frontage )

  6. a narrow boat

  7. Check the inventory supplied by the hire company. There may well be duvets but no sheets or pillow cases.

Something to amuse yourselves should the weather be less than perfect, especially if you have children. It has already been mentioned that a Nicholsons guide for the waters you will be cruising is an absolute must. If you like a tipple, take a supply as canalside pubs are like motorway services, your a captive audience.

Another absolute must is life jackets for the kiddies, or even the adults, if they are non swimmers.

Enjoy your holiday, but beware, you`ll want your own boat when you return.

  8. thin sails

  9. Clothing that allows you to outside in all weathers, food, drink, a canal map that shows all the canal side pubs and then relax no hurry just enjoy and keep the mobile phone OFF except to summon help from the boatyard if you have problems (some people do) leave behind all other electronic gizmos and get back to basics. Most enjoyable

  10. narrow things

  11. Some really good books and lots of beer, also a map of wherever you're going. There isn't much to do on a narrow boat...

  12. Contact them to ask for a check list of what they do provide - like canal maps for example, if not buy a Nicholsons for the area you intend cruising - it will tell you where all the pubs, shops, water points, etc., are.

Favourite food things - check if the Company provide basics like salt & pepper.

Books, writing paper, pens, etc.,  address book

Booze, clothes (wellies & indoor shoes), waterproofs

    Mobile phone, videos, CDs, camera

Any favourite kitchen gadget which you can't live without - it might just be a sharp kitchen knife!
