I have a hollow, metal rod that I need to cut down to size to fit my window (for drapes). What is the best tool to use? I have a saw-zaw, would that work?

  1. That will work or a hacksaw.

  2. and saw would work  but make sure u have a blade that is ment for cutting metal cuz if u dont u will just keep braking them.

  3. If it's thin brass (rather than brass-plated steel), a plumber's pipe cutter from the local DIY store will probably do the trick more neatly than a hacksaw. They are very cheap.

Otherwise, a hacksaw is the best bet. Use a fine-toothed blade (32 teeth to the inch, if you can get one). Coarse blades are for thick solid metal, and snag badly on thin-walled tube. You may need a fine file to tidy up the cut end.
