  1. Yes, there is enough food to feed everyone on the planet. And many people would say there is TOO MUCH food being donated.

In August, CARE international rejected a donation of $45m (£22.7m) of donated food from the United States (it was primarily wheat). CARE said that the donated food from the USA would harm local farmers in developing countries, primarily Africa, who need to be able to sell their produce in order to feed their own families. People won't pay local farmers for food when they can get such for free.

More and more aid and relief agencies are saying that too much food and other resources are being donated to poor countries and thereby taking away the livelihoods of local producers. Even after the tsunami, local people who produced or sold clothes in the affected countries claimed their livelihoods were threatened/undermined by all of the donated clothing arriving from the west.

Not saying people shouldn't donate food or clothing -- just trying to provide some insights on how such donations are sometimes perceived at the local level.

  2. Do you mean trails or trials?

Yes, we grow enough food to feed everyone on the planet. However, in many countries the food that is grown is fed to livestock, which are then killed for their meat. The amount of grain needed to produce a small of meat could feed a large number of people. So, if we all became vegetarians, there would be plenty to go around.

Is there enough food being donated? Yes, but unfortunately the cost of delivery combined with corruption in many contries prevents it from reaching its intended destination. A better solution would be to teach communities to grow their own food and provide them with seeds and  livestock that are is native to the habitat.
