Hi, I am a 22 year old student in the USA, and I am looking to move to Sydney AUS in Jan of 2009. I want to be able to work 20-40 hrs a week while I am there, and probably continue my education as well. I would like to stay 3-12 months. Which Visa do I need to apply for?

  1. Yes, your best chance is the working holiday visa. This visa allows you to travel around Australia (up to 12 months) with the option for part-time or casual employment. Also this visa does not allow you to work for 1 employer for more than 6 months and study/training for more than 4 months. See the requirements here http://www.nationalvisas.com.au/working/...

  2. You will need to apply for a work visa. These are very hard to acquire.Perhaps a holiday visa and if you intend to study here your Uni should be able to advise you what student visa you would need.Hope this helps.Welcome to Aussie if you come.

  3. I think your only hope is a working holiday visa, unless you get acepted by a unversity there and apply for a student visa.  Work visas are extremely hard to get and even if you qualify, can take 2 to 3 years to get.

  4. If you are wanting to study in Australia then I think you can apply for permission to work on your student visa (up to 20 hours a week) otherwise there are visitor visas where you cant work, working holidays and other business/working visas.....have fun

  5. On s student visa, you can only work 20 hours per week during the semester and unlimited hours in vacation breaks.

On a Working Holiday visa, you may study for up to 4 months and may work for up to 6 months for a any given employer. You must be tertiary educated and the visa is for 12 months.

  6. your only chance will be a working holiday visa(can not study on this visa)

or a student visa (you can work 20 hours a week when in school and 40 when its school holidays)  but to get a student visa you must first be accepted by a school before you apply for a visa, and all your tuition fees must be paid by you before your course starts
