Hi

Uk citizen here. Trying to find out some info for someone like me, who would like to go to the USA for a year or so. travelling around, getting jobs here and there just to earn some cash along the way. Now i know i am enititled to the VWP being a UK resident. But they only allow entry for upto 90 days. So can anyone give me some advice. I have searched the US embassy website. but find it very confusing. thanks.

  1. You can apply for a B2 visa and stay up to 6 months, but must habe enough money to support yourself, and you cannot work on a tourist visa.  you cannot legally work in the U.S. without a work visa and they are nearly impossible to get.  Thousands of people fom the U.K. want to "come to America and work for a year or so."  However, it is nearly impossible.  if you are a professional, you may be able to find an employer to give you a contract...see 1st site below.  Or, you could try to find a U.k. employer who would place you in the u.S....also difficult.  you cannot come and just find a low skill job legally.  Same is true for Americans who want to go to the U.K. or other European countries.   Almost impossible for any nationality to work in another country.
