  1. I've never seen a guy wear an engagement ring, but I've heard of it. The only guy I've heard of who wore an engagement ring had a very possessive fiance who wanted people to know that he was off the market.

You don't need to get him an engagement ring. If you want to get him a small token or a gift for the engagement, it doesn't have to be a ring, it can be whatever you want.

As far as the wedding ring goes, there are lots of variables.

Preferably, the color should match your engagement ring, but it doesn't have to.

If he works with his hands a lot, or if he likes building stuff, platinum and titanium are much more durable than gold. They're more expensive, but they  don't break or scratch. They are not as easy to resize, so you should make sure that it fits. Avoid stones, since they can fall off if he does a lot of manual labor.

If he is not used to wearing any jewelery, you should pick a lighter ring.

Lots of guys like slightly thicker bands. If you get one that's thick, make sure the edges are nicely polished for comfort.

If you are religious or have a favorite quote/bible/Torah/Qu'ran/ whatever verse, many stores offer engraved rings. They can do the engravement in different languages and can engrave whatever you want for a reasonable price .

ETA: If you plan on proposing to him, you don't have to get him a ring.

  2. A man's wedding ring is more often than not a plain band (gold, titanium, etc). Some bands have designs on them, and it's a matter of personal preference. Best thing is for you guys to go to a jewelry store and look at rings together - have him pick what he likes. They don't really have "engagement" rings for men, but you can pick any ring and designate it as an engagement ring. Again, have him choose. Or he can get just one ring, and it can serve as both engagement ring and a wedding band.

  3. I've never heard of giving a man an engagement ring. If you want your rings to be alike you can buy them in a set, or even a trio set with the women's engagement ring, wedding band and the man's wedding band all matching. That's what we did.

  4. Men don't wear engagement rings first of all.  Second of all, what his ring looks like is up to him.  Does he want his to match yours, does he work with his hands a lot where a ring will get scratched, is he allergic to any metals?  You both need to go out and look.

  5. Tunston

  6. an engagement ring? i never heard of getting a engaement ring for a man usually they just get a wedding ring on the day they are married but they dont walk around sporting a pre marriage ring! that is funny :)

  7. well if your ring is silver get him a silver band and if yours is gold get him a gold band.

  8. Most men prefer gold bands but I think it would be better to do the finger tattoos of the other persons name.  I think it costs less and says a lot more.

  9. well i would suggest a simple titanium band

    i hope it helps=)

  11. If he works construction or similar rings are dangerous and should not be worn. I got a wide for me and a narrow for the other half.

  12. men don't wear engagement rings.

and for the wedding ring, he picks out his own.

  13. A man wearing 2 rings on his wedding finger will look stupid. I would stick with just the wedding band.

  14. my guess is that he would like a simple one with an engraving on the interior. that way it's classy, elegant, simple and charming. (not sure if u wanted this kind of answer)

  15. ring tattoos = ghetto and they are more expensive to have removed.

  16. lots of jewelers will let you design rings online to see what sort of styles you like - here is a list of a couple

It seems pretty popular these days to go with platinum, I've also seen some really nice looking mens rings that have sort of a distressed look to them - I even saw one once that had petrified wood in it (very manly).

Why the two rings? I think most guys wear just one.

  17. then get him a sliver ring instead of a gold.
