What material should the rim be made out of? I want something that has a combination of light weight but strength for somewhat rigorous mountain biking. Are there any materials and/or brands that you recommend that don't cost too much (maybe mid-range).

  1. bontrager i dont know prices though

  2. I like Maxxis all I roll with

  3. Check out speedgoat.com and look at DMR wheel sets

(Rims already built with hubs).  Good rims that is tough and light.  I'm pretty rough with my rims and they have yet to get bent.  There a little wider to handle wider tires.  The hubs are good quality for the price, highly recommend to at least check them out.  But the front is a 20mm thru axle hub.  You can buy them seperate.

  4. Maybe look at Sun Ringle and Alexrims, I think they provide good value.  Mavic and DT Swiss makes very good rims, but usually are a bit more expensive.
