There are no breeds of wolf. A breed is a variety of domestic animal that has been selectively bred by humans to have certain characteristics that set it apart from others of its species - for example, German Shepherd and Rottweiler are breeds of dog, and Shire and Arab are breeds of horse.

There are three species of wolf in the world - the grey wolf (Canis lupus), which is the animal most people think of when they hear the word 'wolf', the red wolf (Canis rufus), and the Ethiopian wolf (Canis simensis). The largest and strongest of these species is the grey wolf, and the largest and strongest subspecies is the Alaskan wolf (Canis lupus pambasileus).

EDIT: In response to uh?'s answer, I would just like to point out that the Mexican wolf, arctic wolf, etc. are not species - they are merely subspecies of the grey wolf. The maned wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus) is not a wolf at all - it is inappropriately named, being only distantly related to other canids, hence its being placed in its own genus.
