  1. You can opt for clear cedar or redwood, but prepare to pay dearly for it.  Other options are to use NLK (no loose knots) cedar or use a solid stain to cover any knots that may be there.  Hope this helps.


  2. Rough-sawn oak will work for you, very few (if any) knots. As the previous answer suggests, anything graded as "clear" will cost very dearly.....of course, you could always use the new ABS plastic fencing materials, no knots at all in them, lol.
