Hey I'm adding a submersible bilge pump to my 1970's Aquasport 22-2 and I would like to mount the pump to a piece of wood that I will epoxy to the bottom of the bilge. What type of wood will survive under bilge conditions? (Also if there is another alternate method of mounting the pump please share)

  1. what he said

  2. mahogany...,or marine plywood ,,,seal either with polyurethane..before installation

  3. you can use a piece of plexie glass or fiber glass sheet it will out last any type of wood

  4. Teak, mahogany, marine ply.. whatever, just put a few coats of epoxy over the entire piece and make sure you have 'squeeze out' when you install/bed the pump.

No voids, and no wood that isn't epoxy coated exposed.

Consider maybe using Starboard, or some other kind of plasic... no rot potential.
