are the semafore signals still there or is it like ctc/central traffic control.

  1. Where I work our last semaphore signal came down two years ago.

    Many parts were non-existent so repair peices had to be modified or in some cases made by hand.

    I imagine there are a few of the old style signal devices left but I truly am not aware of.

    As for the CTC systems, that will depend on the type of operation.

    CTC is a type of authority for granting permission to occupy a main track, our CTC used the semaphores in some locations until they wre phased out.

    Semaphores are just another type of signal, compatible with CTC but also with many other types of track occupance authority.
