  1. skimmed has had all the fat taken away, semi skimmed has had part of it removed, whole fat has not had any romoved, and there are lacto free kinds of milk, but they are not proper

  2. Our milk is graded by the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) based on the fat content of the milk.  Most of our milk is cow's milk.  We have Skim Milk (fat free), 1% and 2% (which is the fat content) and whole milk which has 8.2g in a glass - nearly 50%.

Other types of milk include goat's milk, coconut milk and soy milk.  I am a personal fan of soy milk - it tastes good and is healthier.

  3. In UK -

Skimmed milk has all the fat taken (usually left over after taking cream off for butter or just cream).

Semi Skimmed has half the fat taken off.

Full Cream Milk (or Whole Milk) is just what it says.

Most milk is homogenised now where all the fat is evenly mixed, in the old days the cream used to go to the top and it was easy to take the 'top of the milk' and use it on your breakfast cereal.  Very nice.

Then there is Cravendale milk which is extra filtered and thus stays fresher for longer and tastes very nice.

  4. skim milk

    whole milk

    2%

    1%

    half and half

    creamer

    heavy cream

these are all kinds of milk and milk products avail in the grocery store.
