I was told that African Greys are the best talkers. They normally cost £800 + but become fairly contrary as they age and tend to attach themselves to one person. I was advised a Macaw (£1000 - £1500 +) is a better 'pet' but not as good a talker as the African Grey.

Mynah Birds talk but not sure if you can buy them in UK or you can teach parrots to talk and you can get them from any reputable pet supplier but I don't think they are very cheap.

Parrots can talk but they cost around £80 - £100 and then you need to get its cage and other stuff.

We have kept budgies for a number of years.  

If you want a budgie, to make sure you get a male, and we always have gone straight to a breeder to buy from never from a pet shop (as you don't know how old they are)

The first budgie we had was a great talker, we even taught it to swear!

But I have been told to talk to them when they are going to sleep and they pick words up more easily this way!

Budgies can talk too but not all of them. Usually male budgies talk and they are £20

However not all talk so... :)

african greys,amazons cockatoos miner birds,i have an african grey who is a year old and he dont shut up its amazing,he asks my dogs if they want to go out,he calls me a di*k head, tells himself to be quite,asks me if mummy wants a cuppa tea and lots of other things hes great but they take to one person and needs lots of attention and time out of his cage,i am from the uk and i paid £750 for him but hes worth every penny, but im must stress they need lots and lot of attention. also ask 4 kisses tickles,where his water? hes great!!!!
