I am putting together fruit trays for my wedding and would like to do it 2 days in advance so I am not too rushed. I plan on putting out grapes (green and purple), strawberries, pineapple slices, and melons. Can you suggest anything else that won't brown? I would love to add apples and pears, but they brown too fast.

  1. I would not cut melons 2 days in advanced.  They are going to start breaking down and will not look good.  Kiwis are a good looking fruit sliced.  Mangos and Papayas also

  2. you can put cut mangoes , kiwi , cantaloupe melon , pineapple and watermelon. But be sure you will put them  back in the refrigerator after cutting them. 2 days in advance will spoil them in the room temperature .

  3. See if you can outsource the making of the fruit trays to some one who can do it the morning of, or the night before...2 days before is too long for cut fruit to sit = some of it will be ok, but some will get mushy. Berries are good and hold up well; You might cut all the fruit the night before and then assemble it the morning of....

  4. cantelope? idk if that is under melon for you. but there is nothing else really. the pineapple and melon can look really nice. i hope you make a pretty design hehe. maybe kiwi? colorful fruits. apples and pears are white inside anyways.

  5. I also say kiwis are very attractive on a fruit tray and will hold in fridge.  You can get "Fruit Fresh" at grocery store to keep,  pears and apples and even bananas maybe, I would try out ahead of time.  Blue berries, raspberries, really any berry will look pretty.  Take care will the strawberries though.  Good luck and congrats!

  6. Kiwi, cantelope, watermelon, pineapple, and strawberries make a pretty colorful fruit tray.

  7. Starfruit is beautiful when sliced, but you might just want to add some slices for decoration before you serve them.  Consider "frosting" the grapes (roll in lightly beaten egg whites, roll in granulated sugar, and dry on racks) ....Do NOT cut the strawberries, if you're refrigerating them overnight.  Blueberries & blackberries will stand up well;  mandarin oranges (use canned & drain them);  fresh cherries;  Garnish with fresh mint leaves.  ... 2 days ahead is pushing it though.  Try to do this the day ahead.  Try to not use lemon juice, as that will flavor the fruit and make it mushy.  Get a little jar of Fruit Fresh, which is made specifically for keeping fruit fresh and not brown (try the baking/spice aisle, or near the canning supplies at the grocery)

  8. you can use apple and pears. after you cut or slice them dip them in lemon juice/ water mixture. they wont taste sour but they will stay their color for a while with out browing. Mango is good. Cantelope, tangerines, clemantines, papaya.

  9. This isn't much help but I would throw in blueberries and raspberries! Good luck!

  10. put lemon or lime juice over your fruit so it wont brown...use oranges...

  11. KIWIS!

  12. It'll be easier on you if you purchase the fruit tray from a caterer or even a grocery store. Good quality food without all the work. Don't stress yourself out by doing it all yourself.

  13. Kiwi

    Cherimoya

    Star Fruit

    Pomegranate

    Strawberries

Find a good preservative or dip your fruit in an acid, such as lemon juice or pineapple juice and if all else fails, a solution of Vitamin C and water.

  14. Kewi, watermelon, orange.

  15. Kiwi and Star Fruit are beautiful when cut...and taste great.
