WOW what a question short answer is bed rock all off Canada sits on it.Locally each area has its own specific rock.Such as Manitoulin Island and the Bruce Peninsula are on limestone,areas in southern Ontario and Quebec sit on hundreds of feet of soil and clay,the Prairies again loads of soil on top of bed rock.Our great country sits on a huge sheet of bed rock with a variety of materials sitting on that it all depends on what the mighty glaciers left when they retreated
