  1. Green circles, blue squares, single black diamonds, then double black diamonds.

Parks are represented by an orange figure that looks kind of like a flattened circle.  (Like a rectangle with a semi-circle at each end.)

Then there's glades.  I've seen them marked as lines.  It varies sometimes though.

Then there's backcountry.  There's no figure designation for them.

  2. be very careful on a course that is new to you. lot of time a black or double black diamond in one ski area may seem like a blue square once you ride it. which may lead you think all black diamonds are easy. which of course some are quite wicked and can get you seriously hurt.

  3. the normal ones are: green circle, blue square, black diamond, double black diamond

Ive also seen: double greens, double blues, tripple blacks, and double blacks w/ an e and an x in the diamonds

every resort rates their hills differently so it can be hard to compare two resorts depending on size and location.

every resort ski map will describe how they rate their hills.

there are also some other things on ski maps such as slow zones and terrain parks

  4. beginner- green circle (groomed)

    intermediate- blue square (groomed)

advanced- black diamond, some bumps, mini parks

expert- double black diamond, terrain parks (freestyle), pipe, bumps, back-country (out of bounds, hiking, or heli-boarding), glades, and cliffs!

  5. green circles, blue squares, black diamonds, double black diamond.

then you get to your terrain park and half pipes.
