  1. A background check shows anything and everything you have been arrested for. Nothing more, nothing less.

  2. depends who is conducting background check.

Misdemeanor and felony arrests are listed.

non-crime violations, and traffic infractions may be listed.

Employment and financial probes will vary greatly in degree.

depends what its for, which state, which agency, etc.

  3. Thorough background investigations will reveal EVERYTHING about an applicant.

School records, work records, criminal checks, credit history, etc.

They'll talk to teachers, neighbors, police officers, friends, enemies, etc.

A good background investigator will know more about you than you know about yourself.

  4. Well I could better answer your question if I knew what specific background check you are speaking of.  If you are talking about criminal background checks, for example, an employer can request one prior to hiring you.  Everything you have ever done will show up such as arrests, court appearances, and the resolution.  This includes felonies and misdemeanors.  Some things that are really old may not show up.  Some things that happened very recently may not show up yet either.  If you are talking about an employment check, then employers can call your former employers you list on a job application and ask what dates you worked there and if they would hire you back or not.  But that's all the information they can find out.  If you are speaking of credit checks, then an employer can pull your credit report and see what kinds of debts you owe or any outstanding loans you may have and they can find out your credit score.  Hope this helps.

  5. Backgroundgs check can be as extensive as making discoveries on a fight you had in early childhood. It just depends on who you are trying to work for. If you want to work for the FBI, naturally it would require a lot of information about you, who you've been, who you are, and what you've done. Applying for a job a clothing department store will not require this type of background check and will merely focus on dishonesty or terminations and convictions. If there is anything on your record, don't worry. It is what you have become since. Good luck.
