  1. I know one thing.   And that's Greg Chappell just won't stop talking!!   Man that guy loves the sound of his own voice!   And that pommy dude who was at the coin toss the other day.   Can't remember his name.   But that's ok coz he forgot the name of the team who won it!   Embarrassing.

  2. grounds r to small

  3. diversion from game to money

  4. i must admit i havent enjoyed the commentary, altho i must admiti have enjoyed hearing Greg Chappell commentate again, it brings back memories from when i was a kid hearing him commentate on the tests in the summer here, also shastri and pommy mbangwa i have enjoyed there commentary also, but if they want to make the commentary better theres only one man for the job

    Kerry O'Keefe!!!!

wont improve the standard but h**l it would be funny!!!!

  5. The biggest drawback of the IPL is that I cant bear seeing Rahul against Saurav and other such stuff.

  6. But according to me the disappointment is the future will focus more on big hitting rather than a good strokeplay.....

  7. may be in commentry but their is no other drawback.

  8. Standard is not good, i widh they got the Channel Nine Cricket Commentry team. but other than that

    1) Better Team names

    2) More Teams maybe even branch out to Sri Lanka

    3) SALARY CAP

    4) Draft System like the NBA

    5) Play at different intevals

    6) More International Players

    7) FOR EVERY SIX HIT, A COMPANY GIVES MONEY TO CHARITY like the Commonwealth Bank in 'Straya

  9. I agree with Preethy. She is right. My viewpoint is also same in this regard.

  10. These are the draw backs,

gentle man's game played unsporting, there is every thing except cricket. the good old cricket is killed for the sake of and for the corporates. No cricket law MCC  code 2002(2003) is followed.ONLY PLAYING CONDITION APPLIED. every thing but MONEY MONEY MONEY IS THERE.

  11. I agree with you, it's the commentary. Harsha Bhogle should be commentating.

Also I would have to say the pitches, all of them are batting wickets, it makes the game so batsman dominant.

  12. I agree with u! But Rameez Raja does a decent job....don't u think? But still we want Harsha Bhogle......he is the best!

  13. Both Ranjit Fernando and Laxman Sivaramakrishanan are much better than Tony Greig.

The commentator who is considererd the best by many (Tony) is actually the worst commentator. The only thing good about this commentary is the d**n voice.

  14. A few drawbacks for me though mainly superficial:

Uniforms (Shirts) - all this money and the uniforms are so boring. Deccan Chargers play in Beige???? Punjab's first uniform were like grey pyjamas. Kolkata and Delhis are ok but they are not what you would expect from teams in a "Premier" competition.

Brand identity - I know Its only the first IPL but the teams dont have much depth to their identities. They each have their names Royals, Chargers, Daredevils etc but nothing to really align them culturally with their province or city that distinguishes them from another Indian franchise. Also are there any traditional provincial rivalries in Indian cricket?

Final - Best of three for the final would be good.

Orange cap - that is just wrong! and I heard there is now a purple cap for the best bowler. Just give them the money not the colourful hat lol

Apart from that the Cricket has been excellent, games exciting, fixtures excellent, bowling excellent...thumbs up for me.

In response to Snow_whi....Im glad traditional cricket is dying and money has come into play. Money and the T20 format are the only way to break the USA market as well as bringing the game to China.  5 day games where players dress in boring white and play out for a draw are not going to sustain the game - if you like that type of sport then by all means keep paying your membership to your AMATEUR club.

I'd like to see an expanded IPL to inc Sri Lanka, Bangladesh teams plus the IPL concept to extend to a Pakistan PL, Australian PL , English PL, African PL with each PL winner playing in this proposed Champions League. It gives the players and spectators finally what they deserve. I mean even in the IPL the money is still a  drop in the ocean to the US sporting market.
